Fantastic” My wife and I have just left Sandray after a delightful two month stay. We loved it so much, that we booked for another two months next year. After thinking about it, we could not fault this little oasis. It could not have been better. Our host ( the manager) Clement, bent over backwards to ensure that our every wish was granted. All we had to do, was pick up the phone and our taxi or tuk tuk was there, or if we were hungry, our Nepalese chef would cater to our every whim. He cooked up a fantastic birthday dinner for my wife and it was served on our private terrace, by the ever smiling staff.Clemont the manager even brought a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The apartment was the Bondla, with the roof terrace and it was cleaned by the roomboys every day. They changed the bedding every day, the towels and linen also were changed every day. The floors were mopped and the place was spick and span on our return. We are quite picky people, but could find no fault. We would have no hesitation to recommend Sandray to any potential customers. We left there at midnight and the whole staff were there to say goodbye. Richard and Loretta. January 2015 Room Tip: All the rooms are great, but if you go for the Bondla, it has a private roof terrace and private patio.

We staid at the sandray resort for the new year holiday 2014. It was perfect! We enjoyed every minute. We were amazed when we discovered the room on arrival, it was even better than it is on the pictures. We had the Sal apartment facing the pool and the reception. We arrived very late and clement the manager welcomed us with a big smile. We were happy to find two bottles of water in the fridge as it would have been impossible to find a shop open in the middle of the night. The mini bar is also a great idea, with a few drinks and crisps to keep you going until morning. The price was very reasonable for the drinks ( exemple: large beer kingfisher for 75 roupies, cheaper than in any restaurant and 60roupies in the local shop) When we got up we ordered room service and it was delicious for a décent price. Food can be ordered any time during the day and you can either eat by the pool or in your Apartment. The location was great too, nice palm trees all around and a 20min walk to the beach. It wasnt always easy to walk to the beach with the crazy traffic on colva beach road ( but it was the busiest time of year and we had a pram with us..) If you dont want to walk or If you want to go anywhere else just ask the reception, they are very helpful and they ll call Someone for you. The taxi driver that works with sandray resort is also very nice and friendly, he has a lot of stories about goa that he loves to share.. We would highly recommend this place to anyone as it was perfect for us.. Pretty, clean, friendly people, practical kitchen, huge wardrobe, hot water, Nice pool and good food! We loved it! You get exactly what it says, peaceful and relaxing. The resort is the ideal place to unwind in a busy country. The staff were excellent, helpful, friendly and polite, and the chef, Kamal, is a great cook, all our meals were wonderful and freshly prepared. The rooms and facilities are clean and regularly monitored with rooms cleaned as and when needed. I couldn't speak highly enough of the manager, Clement and staff and we made friends with many of them and will be returning. The pool, although not large, is enough to cool off in the lovely gardens. The beach at Benaulim is perfect and much quieter than Colva beach which can get really busy. My only small negative comment on the property is that it could probably do with a little TLC to bring it up to a luxury standard. I would definitely recommend this property to my family and friends. It is also an ideal place to have as your base if sightseeing as you can return and relax at your leisure. They also have a great taxi driver available, Victor, who took us on a few trips. He has good knowledge of the area and proved to be an excellent bird spotter. Use him if you get the chance. Kay and Rob UK Janauary 2014

Owner’s response. Thank you for this review. Our property is painted inside and outside every year but paintwork in India deteriorates very, very quickly ! Hence the remark about TLC requirements. Sandra and Raymond

This super place was exactly what we expected after reading their ads. It’s a small, really quiet resort with a lovely pool area and beautiful gardens all set within a coconut plantation. It not right on the beach but that suits us as you seldom get such quiet and peaceful locations where there are loads of beach comers and shops. Five minutes by cheap taxi and we were there. The staff are great and the food cooked by the in house chef was delicious. We were their for two weeks, our first time in Goa and they really made us feel welcome. The apartments are clean and totally adequate. We look forward to returning next year. Simon and Kate Nov 2013

We recently returned from out trip to India. We stayed for a week in south Goa at Sandray. As it was the start of the season, there was only the two of us as well as the owner and her friend staying at the resort. It was very quiet and comfortable, just the way we like it. The food that the chef makes is really good, we ate at the hotel everyday and worked our way through the numerous items on the menu. The staff are excellent, Clement the Manager is really accommodating and really takes care of you. If you need a good car and driver, ask Clement to call Victor, what a delight it is to have him drive you to all the sights ot wherever you want to go. The location is a bit of a walk to Colva beach, but only a short tuk, tuk ride. The best beach in the area though is Varca Beach, again a short tuk, tuk ride. Would not hesitate to return should we visit Goa in the future. CatsRus-1036 Nov 2013

The staff are excellent and always there no matter what time you arrive back to ensure you have all you need. We had the bungalow as our need was for peace due to a heavy workload prior to our arrival and it provided just that, it is comfortable we did not use the rooftop garden at all but as we like our space the bungalow suited us very well. Great round bath and private dining outside area. The bed is a big double not as comfortable as our western beds, much harder however we sleep well and we like our comfort so no problem. The bedding and towels are changed daily which is lovely and we enjoyed the garden could have done with a little sprucing up but did not detract from the sheer pleasure of enjoying a swim and a sunbathe. It must be said that we were the only guests on our week here so it provided all the peace we needed, however as it is a small complex don't imagine it is ever noisy, The location is down a small unmade road but not to far walk to the main road. Buy a torch at the local shop it only cost us 85Rs very adequate for our needs. This place is at the top end of the main Colva high street with lots of local life both residents and holiday makers, we enjoyed this but if you like to be more with English holidaymakers you will want to stay nearer to the quieter beaches of Benelium. We either walked to the beach 20 mins or tuk tuk 100Rs, The Beaches are just so beautiful and stretch as far as you can walk, we cycled (150Rs each from colva beach) on two of our days you can cycle on the sand once the tide has gone out lfrom beach shack to beach shack with swimming in-between the water sports shack is on Benelium beach has all you need you just need to ask for the equipment you want we windsurfed and they even had a catamaran but it needed repair when we were there. The locals are all little entrepreneurs because they need to be and even if a little pushy at times are never aggressive so just enjoy the banter. From Colva beach you can go north or south you will not be disappointed in either direction. The spice farm is a must a great day. Victor the local taxi driver who Sandray recommend is a mine of local knowledge and even took us to have our much loved leather sandals repaired at nominal cost. Our only regret is that we did not have longer only a week but so very worth it, on the couple of occasions we ate at the apartments the food was excellent. Only fly in the ointment is the local taxes for the two of us it was £46 payable on arrival so you need to budget for this. Overall a fab holiday this is a holiday resort with a touch of local flavour which we thoroughly enjoyed it. Denise H. Nov 2013

If you want peace and tranquillity away from the tourest meccas of Goa then Sandray is the place to go. Its small and compact but not restrictive as only five apartments are available to fill and so the place never gets overcrowded. The staff are brilliant ! especially Clement the manager who bends over backwards to be helpful. Rooms are cleaned dailoy and are very spacious. They have their own small restaurant and the food is great but you can eat in your apartment if you prefer. Then beach is a few minutes away by taxi and what a beach !! It goes on for ever and somedays theres very few tourists to be seen. Weve holidayed before in north Goa but give us south Goa from now on. Thank you for an excellent holliday Trev and Mary May 2012.

Owner's Response: Thank you for this excellent review. We try very hard to provide a clean and relaxing resort that our guests will cherish the memory of. Thank you also to our excellent resort manager, Clement, and to all our staff. Jayesh, Indian director. Raymond and Sandra, UK owners

This is our second stay at Sandray. Since last Octobers stay. Much remains the same as last year. The fridge freezer has been replaced. The very large generator kicks in as soon as the local electric goes down. They now have wireless routers in place ,if asked for. Which work if the mains system is running. So no escape from Skype or Facebook. The staff were as helpful as last year. Towels and sheets are replaced every other day. We happily paid our supplement of about £5 p/d for air con in the bedroom. We ate o/s on the small grassed area. The food is very nice and I find that one portion of rice,is enough for two people, being filled by a starter etc. As it was the end of the monsoon season, the paintwork of most buildings seems a bit damp. But that's everywhere and it is India at the end of rains. It's a slow 57 year old walk to the beach. 4 mins to the nearest one of two cash points. 7 mins to a church for the faithful. 10 to the road down to the beach. 15 to one of two very nice restaurants ,opposite " the football pitch" , with buffalo in the middle. 20 mins to main beach and a few more to the "boomerang bar". Raul the ever present waiter is a good bloke. The sales pitch from the stores people enroute to the beach is very polite and they do remember you each time you walk past. My Wife came unstuck tummy wise on our 3rd day and although we obtained meds from the local chemist 5 mins walk away. She was taken by Clemance ,The hotel manager. Who along with Freddie, goes the extra mile for customers. By car to Margao town to see a Doctor. Who gave here even more meds. Cleared up after another two days, enough to eat, swim and walk. Diago was our taxi driver from last year and this,he lives in the same lane as the hotel. While it maybe a distance from the beach and off the beaten track. It is a place I would recommend for a restful break. October 2013

Some people, my age and above might find the resort just a little bit too far for walking to the beach. But yuk Tula are cheap and what's the rush. Food was always very good and be adventurous, go for Indian breakfast. Police station around the corner/the green house. Is good for cabs. Staff very friendly and polite. Looking at us Brits gradually glowing from pink to red pay the extra for the a/c. It's worth it. Going back again. Yippee. 15th September 2013 Patrick

My wife and I had such a wonderful and relaxing time here and we can't wait to go again. The setting is magical: in a coconut grove, with the trees gently swaying in the wind... It's set back from the beach, which for us was terrific due to its calmness and being able to escape the very touristy parts of Benaulim and Colva when we wanted to, while being in easy enough reach as to be convenient. In addition to the setting, the staff are another major plus: wonderfully kind and helpful and unobtrusive. The accommodation is clean and comfortable, the food delicious, the verandas on the first floor are perfect. Really, really didn't want to leave... 24th May 2013 Jake, Edinburgh

My wife and I arrived at Sandray after two weeks of touring in India with private car and driver. We had experienced the sights, wonders, traffic, dirt, confusion and hassle that makes India such a delight.....and......struggle for westerner's. It was our intention to take a ten day "break" before finishing our time in this country halfway through a six month trip around the world trip from our home in the U.S. We ended up extending our stay for an additional fourteen days - need we say more!!! We will: The facilitiees are of world class three-star plus standard and far above anything else encountered in this country in this price range. The staff was accommodating to our every need and desire. While we encountered a multitude of minor problems, they were all promptly addressed and every effort made to correct and please. The staff, from Clement the manager, to the housecleaners were friendly and most gracious. Food was well prepared and delicious. The candlelight Valentine's dinner by the pool was special to my "sweetheart" and did me proud! The location, down a small dirt road, afforded a privacy almost impossible to find in India. All facilities (SPA, grocery, shopping, beaches. etc) are a short walk away. When we were lazy, a tuk tuk was promptly arranged. We enjoyed the firm mattresses. We found Sandray to be as advertised and, after experienceing other accommodations in India, above the normal standard. We highly recommend Sandray to anyone planning a trip to Goa!!!! 3rd March 2013. Sunny and Sandy Montana

We stayed in January 2012 and found Sandray to be peaceful and relaxing and the staff very friendly and helpful. Our apartment was clean with plenty of hot water and excellent air conditioning. Good food was provided by the Nepalese chef when and as you wanted it. The location is away from the noise and bustle of the beach but all amenities are close by. We enjoyed the pool as it was often empty during the day as other guests went off to the beach. Joe Fisher and family

My first experience of Goa with my teenage daughter and we both loved it. The resort was perfect, excellent accommodation with friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms with all mod cons and wonderful colourful gardens. The pool was small but adequate, just perfect for a refreshing dip after a long hot day sightseeing in the Goan neighbourhood or a relaxing day just chilling. Food cooked by the local chef was delicious and a short walk into Colva offered many other alternative restaurants.
The location of Sandray is excellent. Some fantastic beaches are a short taxi ride away but these are inexpensive and the resort staff will book any trips/taxis required.
I'd thoroughly recommend Sandray it's a great place to be based whilst visiting Goa- can't wait to go back again!! Angie and Megan February 2012

We have just returned from an excellent stay at Bondla Villa. The property lived up to the description - a small, clean, well-apportioned villa with a roof garden and access to a good size swimming pool. For the first week we had the whole property to ourselves and, for the second week, only one of the other suites was occupied. Consequently, we had a very peaceful and relaxing time. If all the 5 properties had been occupied, we might not have experienced such relaxation, but that's the luck of the draw! All the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient and the villa was thoroughly cleaned each morning.
We only had one evening meal at Sandray, because we prefer to eat a local restaurants. (Particularly recommended are Joecons, Martin's Corner and Johncey's and Coco's on Benaulim Beach. Sea Waves on Betalbatim beach was another good choice. We only had one meal on Colva beach, which proved very disappinting - perhaps we were unlucky). We frequently had breakfast and/or lunch at Sandray, which were more than acceptable, though we noted a continuing lack of prawns at lunchtime, which was a shame.
Our transport needs were mainly met by Victor, who was always prompt and reliable and cheaper than the other driver we sometimes used.
Set against all these positives, we only have 2 critical suggestions to make. Firstly, we had to ask for hot water when we needed it. It was always provided promptly, but I think that, at a 'Luxury' resort, hot water should always be available 'on tap'. I also feel that the Resort should be a bit more upfront about the rate of Indian Government tax added to the bill at check-in. Perhaps, I should have looked it up beforehand, but I was very surprised that, although we were warned that we would have to pay the tax, it currently stands at 12.5%. This added 5000 rupees (£70) to our overall bill and meant that I had to use my credit card to pay the balance at check-in, thus adding a further 2% to our bill. It would be an easy matter to add a phrase such as 'Indian government tax currently at 12.5%' on joining instructions, so that visitors can plan their budgets more effectively.
Notwithstanding these comments, I would like to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bondla Villa. We would be more than happy to return and to recommend it to friends and family. Thank you. John and Lindsey. April 2011. Owner's Response: We appreciate these positive suggestions and now have the policy of advising guests in our final arrival email what the Indian government tax will be at check in. This tax changes from time to time through the year and that is why previously we had not been stating the tax rate.

This was my second visit to Goa and decided to bring family members given our experience back in 2006. We decided to stay at the Sandray resort again as we had such a great visit last time and were pleased to see many of the same friendly staff. The apartments were better than we remembered and particular enjoyed our first floor balcony at dawn and dusk. The resort was occupied with families and couples alike and added to the dynamic of the holiday.
India can be a very different experience when compared to European holidays but the quality and service of the apartments made us feel comfortable and we looked forward to returning to our little haven after a busy day at the beaches. It’s always worth mentioning a great holiday.
The world is a big place but we are certainly tempted to visit again in the future. March 2011

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Room service was great and it was so nice to have dinner served then cleared by staff in your own apartment. The apartment was nicely furnished with some cute touches. The apartment was kept spotless as was the surrounding gardens and pool. It is a small resort but never felt crowded and it was easy to have the pool area to yourself even though the resort was fully booked during our stay. The taxi driver Victor is a gem, honest, entertaining with a vast knowledge of his beloved Goa, do ask for him if you want a taxi trip or day out.
The resort overall is pleasing but the staff make it exceptional and this must be down to the owners and management. Feb 2011

The description given by the owners of this small private hotel is exactly what you find on arrival. The south of Goa is the lesser cultivated area so it gives you the opportunity to see it before the big hotels arrive and take over the lovely coastline and beaches. We opted for the villa as it gives a greater amount of privacy whilst sunbathing but the self contained flats were just as well kitted and comfortable. The Resort is located in a quiet residential area about 25 min flat walk to the beach although the local rickshaws make the journey in 5 mins which was a nice and cheap option. The pool was lovely 9/10 strokes in length and as there are only 5 units in the entire place you can always find a time to use it on your own. If you insist on self catering there are the basic kitchen facilities but we were happy to let Raju the chef take the strain and he did not disappoint, everything is cooked fresh at the time of ordering and if you make a special fish dish request he'll be sure that the fish is purchased only an hour or so before cooking. If you ask nicely he'll let you watch him cook and give a good running commentary. Most importantly the kitchen runs on Western standards with use of purified water. The villa and apartments are cleaned thoroughly each day and if you needed something you only had to ask. The staff are energetic and friendly so nothing is a too much trouble. A small medical problem was resolved by a quick trip to the local Dr within half an hour of making the request, the manager even drove us there and back. This property is best suited to those travellers who want to be away from the madding crowd but with easy accessibility to the bars restaurants and beaches. The only noise you will hear at night will be the neighbouring farm animals and the early morning birds. We personally loved that fact that Colva Beach is used more by Indian visitors than Europeans. It is a long stretch of sandy beach bordered by palm trees with beach shacks for drinks and food. The hawkers are not allowed onto the beach until after sundown so you do not get pestered repeatedly as on other nearby beaches. It was our first visit to India and we enjoyed the experience hugely but at the end of a long day in the sunshine it was lovely to come back to the Sandray to know the staff would look after us and we would have a quiet nights sleep.

We stayed at Sandray in November on the recommendation of a friend and were absolutely delighted with it. We had never visited India before and were at times overwhelmed by the bustle and vibrancy of the places we visited so Sandray provided the calm that made for an extremely memorable holiday. The hotel though small was beyond our expectation for service and facilities and the staff were very efficient, the rooms were spotless and comfortable and the gardens although small were beautiful. The Sandray restaurant was one of the best restaurants in town. We ate out a few nights just for the experience but the food in Sandray restaurant was some of the best we ate throughout our stay. The snacks throughout the day and meals in the evening were delicious and varied. Look no further if you are looking for somewhere welcoming and personal. Alison and Neil. UK

The Sandray has nice spacious accommodation, a lovely swimming pool and friendly staff. However, the best thing about this place is the food - It's out of this world! Do yourself a favour. Visit Sandray when you are in Goa. You won’t be disappointed. Andy and Bez. London

This was my second visit to Sandray Resort but the first for my husband and he was not disappointed. The air conditioned apartment were immaculate and cleaned every day. In the tropical garden the pool and jacuzzi are a welcome retreat from the heat of the day. Clement in particular and all his staff were helpful, polite and discreet. The food was excellent. We only ate out of the resort for one meal. The resort is situated in a quiet residential area. No loud music or rowdy holiday makers. Were both looking forward to our next stay. Dave and Wendy. We stayed here for 4 weeks in July 2009, just to chill, relax and sightsee. And at prices lower than our normal day-to-day living in Cyprus, why not? Perfect relaxation! It may have been monsoon season, but we have plenty of sun and beach here in Cyprus, so we were not going for that. Actually, rain is a holiday to us! But don't let that put you off.... But with regards the resort, I echo previous comments. This is the only place ever where I can truly say that when I entered it matched the photos on the website exactly, and I mean exactly!!!!! I felt as if I knew the place already and had been there before, in a strange deja vue type of experience. Totally delighted. The staff are totally the right balance of helpful, available, polite, without being obtrusive. No hard sell or varying prices here on anything. This place truly is a spot of tranquillity, a haven, a retreat, a delight. The apartment is totally like the website. Mid-range, but clean, functional, practical, with everything required, which is the main thing, and for the money, and even compared to some other places we stayed in India, let alone elsewhere in the world or the UK, a complete and utter bargain!! Total, total value for money!!! Trust me. We too, ordered food in most days of our stay, as it was both delicious and very reasonably priced. Again, by UK standards, actually very cheap!! Indeed the first few days we probably over indulged! I would totally recommend the Sandray. What you see is exactly what you get, and this place really is simply breathtaking value!!! My family and I, together with friends stayed at the Sandray for four weeks in February 2009 in the Sal Suite and the Bondla Villa. The apartments were very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The living area and bedroom had an aircon unit and ceiling fan. The fridge was well-stocked and prices were very reasonable. Fresh milk, tea, coffee and sugar plus two complementary bottles of water were supplied daily. The restaurant served excellent food which could also be taken in your room. The chef would also prepare your own choice of food if not on the menu. The location of Sandray Luxury Resort was peaceful and tranquil and was only a five minute taxi ride from the brilliant Benaulim beach! We would definitely recommend Sandray Resort. We stayed at the Sandray Luxury Resort in December 2008 for two weeks with friends, sharing one of the four apartments. We found our stay extremely pleasant and relaxing. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and well equipped and the resort staff very friendly and helpful. The food provided by the Sandray Resort chef was excellent, varied and very good value for money. Our experience at Sandray Resort was excellent and would thoroughly recommend it for it's high standard of accommodation and service. Dot and Mat. UK
